All of you are CRAZY!!

Ok, so I set up this blog thing to keep everyone informed on our life here in the BIG state of Texas. And I can't keep up with the thing! How do you people have the time to blog so much? All of you are CRAZY!! Things in Texas are great. We finally got cold weather and had to actually wear a coat today! BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Everyone is well, well kinda. I didn't have to drive the bus the whole week of Thanksgiving and spent the whole time in my bed, knocked out day and night with sleepy medicine because I was so sick and of course no doctors open! But, I did get up that morning and cook the fancy lunch for everyone! But after that, back to the bed I went. All is well now. I still have the lingering, annoying cough, but other than that, good to go. Nick is now the one sick and in bed! So, by Christmas we should all be over this crap and be on with our lives! Boys are doing great. Porter is wanting to read so bad it hurts and his teacher said they are not at that point yet. Well, forget that! We have been working on it at home and he seems to be doing great. He wants to know how to spell every word you say. So I have to be careful how much I talk, because it ends up being a VERY long conversation after having to spell it all too! But I love that he is so eager and willing to learn. I feel as though there are times that I am not able to keep up with him! He wants to know so much and often asks me questions I don't know the answer to. And that frustrates him very much. He said I should know everything because I am a mom! If he only knew! So I spend a lot of nights on the computer researching all that he wants to know. From now on, Mindy, will be getting a lot of phone calls from Porter. Most of the questions he has are about the body and how it works. I know the basics, but when he wants to know what the inside of a brain looks like and wants to see the process of food from the time it goes in, to the time it goes out, I'm out. I don't know a lot about that kind of stuff. It grosses me out! Wyatt is, well, Wyatt. Always willing to do whatever and always with a smile. He is the funny one, that is for sure. I never know if he is telling a joke or serious. He likes to switch names now. On the bus today he said, Daddy, I really love you. I said, oh, Wyatt that is so nice. You can tell him when we get home. He said, ok, Dad, but my name is Porter. He is funny. He is often mad at me on the bus because he wants to play with all the kids, but has to still be in a carseat. So, he tries to share his toys with the others, by throwing them over his head and yelling, "CATCH" only after it has been thrown. Makes it so pleasant to hear crying children from being hit in the head from Wyatt's toys. :) He is very active and is always wanting to move. Porter sometimes says, Wyatt, you are driving me crazy! Hold still just for 5 seconds and I will count. Wyatt's response is always the same, But I just can't! That explains it all. Nick is still working CRAZY hours at Chase, but the lawn care business is done for the season so that helps out a lot. Plus he has decided not to do much high school wrestling this year. That leaves just one job and school. So maybe we will see each other this month! We love and miss you all tons. We hope to be able to see everyone soon.

Happy Halloween!!!

We had a GREAT halloween! We received about a years worth of candy for all of us! In our neighborhood everyone starts to trick or treat around 6:00 pm. We were outside at 6:30 starting to hand out candy, (there are so many people that we all sit in our driveways to hand out candy so you aren't running to the door every 10 seconds), we had 18 bags of candy and we were out at 8:00 pm! CRAZY!! Every year I run out so the following year I always buy more. I guess it is just going to come down to, when it's gone, it's gone. I'm not going to try to keep up next year. The boys had a great time. I took them trick or treating and I even dressed up! Wyatt was scared of EVERY house we went to, no matter what. All is well in Texas still. We are in the 80's still and in shorts and t-shirts! We are ready for some fall weather. The race at Texas Motor Speedway was this weekend and I actually ventured out this time! And I will NEVER do that again! It drives me crazy! They shut down the WHOLE freeway going both ways, which is the only way to my house! Needless to say, I am NOT a NASCAR fan! All, we love and miss you all!!

Just another day!

I was sitting here playing around on this thing and it is really cool! It is great to hear from everyone and to see pictures and blogs of everyone also. Things in Texas are going well. We were in the mid 80's earlier this week and a cold front came through last night and so now we are in the low 70's. I guess fall is finally here! Nick is still working about 15 jobs it seems like. He sure is a hard worker and that is one of the many things I love about him. He is working for JPMorganChase reselling foreclosed homes, so needless to say, he is very busy. He is also going to school two nights a week, owns a lawncare company, and is going to start being a ref for high school wrestling. He is also the ward employment specialist. WOW! What a man! I am still driving a school bus and loving it (most days)! I also do the payroll for all the bus drivers (which is up to 150 or so now) so I am working more than 40 hours a week also. Wyatt is able to go with me on the bus and he loves it. He almost has all the elementary kids names memorized. He loves to talk to them and is the clown of the bus. He has a way of always making the kids smile and gets mad at them if they don't give him a high 5 when they get on the bus. Porter started Kindergarten this year!! I can't believe he is 5! Kindergarten is a full day and there are many days where he comes home VERY tired. He is doing great and loving school. He is just starting to learn how to read. We went to parent teacher conference just last night and his teacher is amazed at how smart he is. Each student starts out on reading level A. There is A, B, 1, 2 3. She said that after her individual assessments, most of the class is on level A. Porter is currently on level 1. They are required to be a level 3 by the end of the school year. She was not worried at all about Porter hitting that goal. So all is well at school! So, that is about it for us. It is the same thing day in and day out. We are trying to just keep up with it all just like everyone else! We love and miss everyone so much!
